Accor and LVMH have entered into a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of Orient Express, a legendary house associated with the most exclusive travel experiences for over a century.

Since the inaugural journey of its train in 1883, Orient Express has enhanced the discovery of the world for customers looking for a unique and refined adventure. A symbol of elegance and daring, Orient Express embodies an art of living cultivating the extraordinary and the dream.

Following its acquisition by Accor in 2022, Orient Express is developing new emblematic projects of trains, hotels and sailboats whose level of requirements will demonstrate its exceptional positioning within the world of travel. The rebirth of a historic train and the launching of the first Orient Express sailboat in 2026 will be the next steps in this new momentum. Alongside these launches, Orient Express will open its first hotels in Rome and Venice while continuing the selective development of its destinations around the world.

Under the terms of the agreements signed today, LVMH is joining forces with Accor through a strategic investment in the Orient Express brand, the company operating the future hotels and trains as well as in the entity that owns the two sailboats. The first sailboat is currently under construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique and the two groups will continue the search for a third partner for this new activity.

By associating itself with the revival of this emblematic brand, LVMH brings its unique know-how in high-quality products and services illustrated in particular, in the world of travel, by the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train and the five other trains also operated by Belmond throughout the world. These extraordinary experiences reflect the operational expertise and creativity of LVMH Hospitality Excellence in this area.

Within its Luxury and Lifestyle division, Accor brings together the main collection of luxury houses with a century-old heritage in the field of hospitality and haute cuisine. The remarkable heritage and history of several of them, such as Raffles, Fairmont or Potel & Chabot, make it possible to reinvent the experience of a clientele in search of excellence and singularity. This ambition is at the heart of the project for Orient Express.

Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of the LVMH Group,  said: “  Orient Express has embodied adventure and elegance since its origins. His name is now part of our cultural heritage and remains a source of inspiration for the greatest artists. Orient Express symbolizes the art of living of the time and the audacity that animate each of our Houses. We are very pleased to partner with Accor to accelerate the revival of this travel icon. Each of our groups will bring the best of their know-how to bring Orient Express to the pinnacle of the art of hosting.  »

Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of the Accor Group,  declared: “  Since its creation 140 years ago, Orient Express has been a legend, drawing on its roots and its dreamlike universe to always look to the future. With it, Accor is reinventing the art of travel, discovery and great epics. Today, with LVMH, Orient Express is opening a new chapter in this formidable adventure with the ambition to explore new horizons and embody the audacity and creative passion that drives us. We are very pleased that LVMH can bring its exceptional know-how to continue to push the boundaries of this legendary House and bring its incarnation to life in an even more unique way  .”
