ZHOU DYNASTY SS25 SHOW

During this week of Chinese-French fashion, we discovered the fashion show at the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris. This show not only is a new way of interpretation for Chinese culture with local design, but also will be a new manifestation that the profound Chinese culture heritance has always been brought forward and further developed.

In the five millennia of Chinese history, Zhou culture, as the “early morning of Chinese civilization”, characterized by its unique allure, has made its profound impact. To better preserve and showcase this invaluable cultural legacy, Shaanxi Tourism Group has dedicated two years to meticulously develop a large-scale Zhou Dynasty Costume Show, a fashion feast that integrates Zhou culture with creative costume design.

This Zhou Dynasty Costume Show, using clothing, which is an indispensable element in daily life, combines the culture of the Zhou Dynasty with modern design concepts, to interpret the connotation of the Zhou Dynasty’s clothing culture with oriental aesthetic techniques. Thus, the audience would be able to understand the custom and aesthetic characteristics of the Zhou Dynasty, as well as the charm of Zhou culture represented by “rites and music of China”.

In terms of costume design, the designing team made bold speculations and creative concepts in the shaping and decoration of costumes, based on factors such as of productivity level, social customs, and living habits back then, through deep research into Zhou Dynasty’s culture and costumes, and integrated modern design and expression with Zhou culture symbols such as totems, floras, myths, patterns on bronze utensils, and finally generated the five series, namely “Feng Shen Yan YI”, “Vi Shui Bai Shuan”, “Bronze Voice”, “Zhou Hua Xi Shi” and “Li Yue Zhou Yuan”, totaling 120 sets of costumes. By combining costume shows with Chinese dances, the unique beauty of Zhou costumes was on full display.

“Zhou Dynasty Costume Show” is not only a feast to the eye, but also a feast to the mind. It allows people to enjoy the beautiful costumes while feeling vividly the profound and unique charm of Chinese Zhou culture, as if the ancient Zhou Dynasty costumes in historical classics is brought to life with new vitality, through which the global audiences would be able to set eyes on the marvelous ancient Chinese cultures.
