This film is presented in Competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Megalopolis is an American science fiction film written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, released in 2024. The film reveals a futuristic New York, renamed New Rome. Megalopolis is a Roman epic set in an imaginary modern America in full decadence.

The aim of a film is certainly to entertain but also to raise awareness, make people think, reflect the world as it is and as it could be. Francis Ford Coppola is for me a visionary. It’s this freedom that I like.

A film does not need to respect a structure because this prevents creativity and even less to lend itself to the game of conformism. A film can make us think, show us a certain vision of life, love, the future…

The film by Francis Ford Coppola is the reflection of a vision, of a certain prevention, of a decadence to be measured, of life to be respected, of a sharing to be honored… Francis Ford Coppola also invites us to unite through his speech and to go beyond borders… But why do we set these borders? Why do humans tend to create them? The casting is fantastic.

Everyone has their own vision of cinema and a different relationship with it, whether you are in front of the camera or behind the camera. A film is made in full consciousness, to question, share, feel, value, describe and many other things. Cinema, art… are part of our lives.

Let us love, feel, share, dream, be ourselves while wondering about the world of tomorrow. Long live cinema! Thanks to Francis Ford Coppola and the wonderful actors for their involvement and commitment, not to mention their acting talents. I can imagine the involvement of the actors in such a strong film.

Let’s not forget his avant-garde on Apocalypse Now (1979) and its success. Another cult film. Each film has several readings, especially if you know how to appreciate it and project yourself.

The film reveals a certain optimism if human beings deign to unite, but obviously it warns us of a certain decadence that perhaps needs to be moderated. Isn’t that also the goal of a film, of culture ? Bring us another reading or share your thoughts, while realizing that we are not the only ones who think this way ?

Francis Ford Coppola is an American director, film producer and screenwriter, who has always taken risks because that is how you bring your vision. He does not seek to please but to share and make people think together and unite… He has won five Academy Awards and twice won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. And, we want even more for this film.

Long live cinema, again and again !
